On Monday, May 27, 2024, Senator Diket Plang, representing the Plateau Central senatorial district, inaugurated a solar power system at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Jos Network Center. This significant event highlights the senator’s dedication to fostering people-oriented projects that address community needs.
Senator Plang expressed immense satisfaction in completing the project, likening it to some of his life’s happiest moments. “Today is one of the days that I feel fulfilled,” he remarked, drawing parallels to his joyous experiences of winning his election, getting married, and the births of his children and grandchildren. This project, he emphasized, is another milestone achievement that underscores his commitment to community-oriented initiatives.
Understanding and addressing the challenges faced by the NTA was a crucial part of the project. Plang recalled his close relationship with NTA reporters and their kindness towards him. He recounted, “NTA reporters are quite kind to me. I got closer to NTA and they made a request on the issue of energy supply to light their studio. They sent a budget to me while I was in Kigali, and upon my return, I ensured the project was completed to their specifications.”
Senator Plang also touched on broader national issues, praising the federal government’s removal of the oil subsidy as a bold and necessary step for Nigeria’s future. “The removal of oil subsidy is one of the strongest wills of a leader who desires to test the future of this nation,” he stated. As the chairman of the Senate Committee on Employment, Labor, and Productivity, he reassured Nigerians of the government’s commitment to improving welfare, security, and progress.
The senator commended President Bola Tinubu and the First Lady for their dedication to Nigeria’s progress, expressing confidence in their vision. He noted, “I see a president who is mentally alert. I see a wife of a president who is in tune with the Nigerian dream.” He emphasized that the Senate, led by Senator Godswill Akpabio, is determined to collaborate effectively with the executive and judiciary branches to deliver democratic dividends.
Mrs. Rifkatu Daniel, the Zonal Director of NTA Network Centre Jos, expressed her gratitude for Senator Plang’s contribution. “This laudable contribution by the Senator will assist the network center to be more efficient,” she stated, highlighting the positive impact of the new solar power system on their operations.
