Following the suspension of Godwin Emefiele as the CBN Governor on Friday, President Bola Tinubu appointed Mr. Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi as the acting CBN Governor.
He served as the Operations Directorate’s Deputy Governor before to being appointed.
This was revealed by Tinubu’s media assistant Bayo Onanuga on Friday in a tweet on his Twitter account.
“Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi is the acting governor of the CBN,” he wrote. He has served as the Operations Directorate’s Deputy Governor since October 2018. He was conceived on March 7, 1962. From 1978 to 1983, he studied at the University of Lagos, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Additionally, he sits on the FIRS board on behalf of the CBN.
According to reports, Emefiele has been instructed to immediately transfer control of his office’s business to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate), who would serve as the Central Bank Governor until the inquiry and reforms are complete.
