President Bola Tinubu has constituted the Presidential Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general election, appointing former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, as Director-General.
Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State was named Secretary of the council.
The development was contained in a statement issued by the Presidency on Saturday and signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, President Tinubu will serve as Chairman of the council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima will be Vice-Chairman I. The APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, will serve as Vice-Chairman II.
The APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, was appointed Deputy Secretary, while Hadiza Bala-Usman will serve as Assistant Secretary.
The President will be supported by a team of advisers comprising former APC National Chairman Bisi Akande, former Ogun State Governor Segun Osoba, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Senator Florence Ita-Giwa.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni were appointed Deputy Directors-General for the campaign in the southern and northern zones, working alongside Senator Bamidele Opeyemi and Senator Jibril Barau.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole was appointed Deputy Director-General for Mobilisation, while President Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, will oversee administration as Deputy Director-General.
James Faleke, who played a prominent role in the APC’s 2022/2023 campaign, returns as Deputy Director-General for Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring.
He will work with zonal directors including Senator Olushola Adeyeye for the South-West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme for the South-South, Senator Uche Ekwunife for the South-East, Muntaqha Rabe for the North-West, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso for the North-Central and Senator Sani Danladi for the North-East.
Stella Okotete, Abdullahi Garba Ramat and Audu Maikori were named secretaries of the Election Planning Directorate.
Muiz Banire, SAN, will head the Legal Directorate, with Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala serving as deputies.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, was named Coordinating Director for Media and Strategic Communication. He will work with Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.
Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka were appointed coordinating deputy directors, while Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, Temitope Ajayi, Aderonke Arabirin and Frederick Nwabufo will serve as coordinating secretaries.
Segun Dada, who held a similar position during the 2022 campaign, returns as Director of New Media, with Solomon Arowolo as Secretary.
The campaign council also named five spokespersons led by Dele Alake, alongside Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.
Tinubu charged members of the council to work tirelessly to secure victory for the APC in the 2027 elections.
He also directed the various directorates to reach out to other party members who were not formally listed but are willing to contribute to the campaign.
The President said the APC would campaign on the achievements of his administration, arguing that the country had moved towards economic progress.
“As we march into the campaign season, we have many achievements to trumpet, let us confidently showcase our record and inspire hope in every corner of our nation,” Tinubu said.
He urged the campaign team to defeat what he described as forces seeking to take the country backwards.
