President Bola Tinubu is expected to submit a list of nominations for ministerial positions within the next 48 hours. This was disclosed by Senate Leader Michael Bamidele.
Bamidele made this disclosure during the public book presentation to celebrate his 60th birthday at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua centre in Abuja.
In order for Nigerians to be pleased with Tinubu’s list of ministers at the end of the day, the senate leader pleaded with Nigerians to pray that Tinubu will be able to make the right selection over the next 24 hours.
He said, “Let me tell you, and you must encourage me; I need to make myself unavailable for the next 48 hours; because a correspondence must come to the Senate, a very crucial correspondence.
“So, Mr. President prayed for me. We should tell the rest of Nigerians to pray for me to be able to make the right decision within the next 24 hours; so that when Nigerians hear the list of his ministers, they will say ‘yes…this is uncommon’. Join us to pray for Mr. President.
“He needed to be away from any kind of influence.”
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was inaugurated 29th May, 2023. Constitutionally, he has up till July 28 to send his ministerial nominees to the Senate for screening and subsequent confirmation.
Following the amendment by the last parliament, the constitution stipulates that the President and governors have, from the date they are sworn in, a 60-day window within which to appoint ministers and commissioners.
