Jesse Garba Abaga, popularly known by his stage name Jesse Jagz, is a highly acclaimed Nigerian rapper, record producer, and songwriter. Born on August 10, 1984, he has made significant contributions to the Nigerian music industry, garnering a dedicated fan base and critical acclaim for his unique style and artistic prowess.

In 2010, Jesse Jagz signed a record deal with Chocolate City, a renowned Nigerian music label. It was during this time that he released his debut studio album titled “Jag of All Tradez.” The album showcased his versatility as an artist, incorporating elements of rap, Afrobeat, and other genres. The release of this album marked a significant milestone in his career, introducing him to a broader audience and establishing him as a force to be reckoned with in the Nigerian music scene.

In 2013, Jesse Jagz decided to take a different path and voluntarily exited the Chocolate City deal. This move allowed him to pursue his artistic vision and exercise creative freedom. Shortly after leaving the label, he announced the launch of his independent record label, Jagz Nation, which further solidified his commitment to creating music on his own terms.

That same year, he released his second studio album titled “Jagz Nation, Vol.1. Thy Nation Come.” This highly anticipated album showcased Jesse Jagz’s growth as an artist and featured hit singles such as “Redemption,” “Bad Girl,” “Sex & Scotch,” and “God on the Mic.” The album received widespread acclaim for its lyrical depth, innovative production, and captivating storytelling, further cementing Jesse Jagz’s position as one of Nigeria’s finest musical talents.

In 2014, Jesse Jagz continued to captivate his fans and the music industry with the release of his third studio album, “Jagz Nation Vol. 2: Royal Niger Company.” This album showcased his ability to blend diverse musical styles, incorporating elements of hip-hop, reggae, and traditional Nigerian sounds. Jesse Jagz’s unique fusion of genres and thought-provoking lyrics made this album a standout in his discography.

After a brief hiatus, Jesse Jagz returned to Chocolate City in 2015, reuniting with the label that helped launch his career. However, he eventually decided to part ways with the label once again before the release of his fourth studio album, “Odysseus,” in 2017. The album showcased his artistic growth and maturity, further establishing him as a respected figure in the Nigerian music industry.

In May 2020, Jesse Jagz treated his fans to a 5-track EP titled “Garba.” This project showcased his evolution as an artist, with introspective and introspective tracks that delved into personal experiences and emotions. The EP received positive reviews and served as a testament to Jesse Jagz’s enduring creativity and ability to connect with his audience.

Jesse Jagz’s contributions to the Nigerian music industry have not only solidified his position as a rapper and producer but also as a trailblazer and trendsetter. His ability to seamlessly blend different genres, thought-provoking lyrics, and captivating storytelling sets him apart in a crowded industry. With each project he releases, Jesse Jagz continues to push the boundaries of Nigerian music, captivating listeners and leaving an indelible mark on the industry as a whole.
