The consummate Academic who just completed a tour of Plateau Southern Senatorial Zone met party Executives and critical stakeholders to intimate them of his intention to contest for the Governorship of the state, and to seek their support during the Party’s Primary Elections coming up shortly in the month of May 2022.

He said being someone who is passionate about the progress of the State, he is in the contest to bring to bear his wealth of experience in governance, peace, security and politics for the growth and development of the State.
According to him, the State is in a retrogressive state, hence the need to get credible hands on deck to restore its lost glory.

He added that the State is in dire need of a Leader with sound knowledge on how to tackle the insecurity bedevilling the state ranging from kidnapping, banditry, land grabbing, armed robbery and killings as well as bring to the fore practical ways to grow the economy to put the State on the path of prosperity and self sufficiency.

The party delegates also commended Prof Best for his consistency in the PDP, noting that not only is he the oldest member of the PDP of all those aspiring to be Governor, but he has never left the Party before. They added that this is his second attempt to run, having attempted before in 2018, but he obeyed the Party and stepped aside when zoning did not favour his zone. They prayed that this time around his ambition will be actualized.

In all the Local Government Areas visited, those who spoke commended the aspirant for the roles he played in the development of the State as Secretary to the Government of the State during the Sen. Jonah Jang-led administration.

He expresses with great dismay how bad Plateau hospital and other cottages hospitals across the state are dilapidated (unkept) and inadequate to actually help the medical personnel deliver on proper needs of the citizens.
We have to ensure that there is a need for more specialist hospitals and clinics in the state where even if it is 3 bedroom flats or apartments that the state government will own to open clinics in other For people with Malaria, Typhoid can go there to take care of their medical needs. Then we improve their salary base to ensure that the health care personnel as they lay their lives on the line, will be compensated amicably.

Strike: ASUU attacks Nwajiuba, writes UNIJOS to withdraw Minister’s certificate

Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has written to the University of Jos; asking it to probe and recall the doctoral degree of the Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba.

Nigerian university workers, under the aegis of ASUU, had commenced a month’s strike on February 14, 2022. After the expiration of the strike, the union extended the industrial action by another two months.

The union is demanding among others university autonomy, the release of revitalization funds for Nigerian universities; and the deployment of the University Transparency Accountability and Solution payment platform for the payment of salaries and allowances of university lecturers.

ASUU

Since the strike commenced, both parties have accused each other of not doing enough to resolve the pending issues to get students back in school.

Nwajiuba, who recently purchased the N100 million presidential form of the All Progressives Congress; despite the ongoing strike, told The PUNCH that the union had written to UNIJOS, asking for the recall of his certificate.

The minister said, “ASUU wrote UNIJOS to recall my certificate. I am not sure what it is they are pursuing. I was informed by the university that this was the directive from ASUU: to investigate my certificate. That is how far they have gone.

“When I got the letter from the university, in fact, the university didn’t hide it, they noted that ASUU wrote them.”
