Plateau: APC has no structure not PDP – Ex-Gov Jang

According to Jonah David Jang, a former governor of Plateau State, the All Progressive Congress (APC) is the party without a structure in the Plateau, not the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Jang explained that this was because the APC never held an election to choose its state executive committee, and the party’s nominee for governor in the 2023 election was chosen entirely by hand by the state branch of the party.

Speaking on Tuesday in Jos against the backdrop of the Appeal Court’s ruling, which resulted in the removal of the party’s elected members from both the National and State Assembly, the former governor referred to the rulings as miscarriages of justice.

According to Jang, the former governor Simon Lalong ought to face consequences for depriving the APC of a hierarchy when he forced the current party chairman upon the party in the State.

The former governor said that even though the Court had its say, God is the ultimate arbiter while extending a heartfelt “thank you visit” to Musa Dachung Bagos, the recently elected House of Representatives member for the Jos East/Jos South federal constituency, for his fatherly support of his goals.

Bagos was one of the PDP members whose elections ruled void by the Appeal Court since the party had no organisational structure in the state when they were nominated to run for various seats.

He said, “Who said we don’t have structure. In fact, it’s the APC that does not have structure because the APC chairman did not buy any form. He was handpicked by Lalong. Even their candidate was not validly nominated. And that’s why the members walked out during their congress because there was no congress at all but they were imposed on their members.”

The former governor further denied that the party’s issues stemmed from his intractable disagreements with Gen. Jeremiah Useni’s PDP side, arguing that there was initially nothing to settle because the PDP lacked a faction.

He accused some members of PDP as being moles for APC

Jang said, “What do you call irreconcilable differences. There was nothing to reconcile because PDP is one. Let me tell you, some of those elders talking about structure had one leg in PDP and the other in APC. They were moles in PDP.

Jang said the PDP had since obeyed the court order by organising the second congress, adding, “It was there all over that we obeyed the court by conducting the second election. Even Bitrus Kaze congratulated Chris Hassan, the eventual winner

Gov. Mutfwang Begins Payment of Death Benefits and Gratuities Since 1985

Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has given approval for the disbursement of gratuities, death benefits, and pension arrears amounting to approximately N20 billion, covering the period from 1985.

Emphasizing his administration’s dedication to the welfare of workers, Governor Mutfwang insists that every worker deserves their rightful wages. It was on this account that he said certain amount of money would be set aside monthly for the payment of gratuities, death benefits and pension arrears.

The Governor made these remarks on Monday during the opening of the Plateau State Government/Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) retreat on effective social dialogue for industrial relations. The event, held at Jonggrand Hotel, Bukuru, Plateau State, focusing on the “Time is Now” mantra.

“The welfare of civil servants is of utmost importance; thus, we have cleared the backlog of inherited salaries spanning over four months. We are current with salary payments and have approved the disbursement of the 90% Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) and a 75% hazard allowance.

“Likewise, we have granted a 75% Hazard Allowance to other health workers, including the Joint Health Workers Union (JOHESU) and the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives. Additionally, measures are underway to address longstanding issues such as gratuities, death benefits, and pension arrears, with the last gratuity payment made in 1985,” he said.

Governor Mutfwang highlighted the significance of training and retraining of civil servants for efficient service delivery. He pledged his administration’s commitment to initiatives aimed at enhancing the performance of the workforce.

“Under my leadership, we will consistently uphold the values and ethics of the civil service, fostering an environment for all sectors to thrive. Our guiding principles include fairness, justice, and equity in our treatment of every worker.

“The time is now for mutual benefit, industrial harmony, worker welfare, training, prompt payment of salaries, and promotions. With God’s grace and your cooperation, we shall seamlessly achieve these goals,” he stated.

Also speaking, the Head of Service, Plateau State, Mrs. Rauta Dakok, explained that the joint retreat is the first of its kind in Plateau. She expressed optimism that the training would enrich the workforce and foster a mutually beneficial relationship between the government and union leaders in oder to provide them with insights into policy development to enhance the civil service.

Classiq and Geraldine’s Unforgettable Low-Key Wedding Celebration (See Photos)

Classiq, the acclaimed Nigerian rapper, known by his stage names Arewa Mafia or Bakin Bature, has recently taken a significant step in his personal life by tying the knot with his longtime girlfriend, Geraldine Ayiku. The couple exchanged vows in an intimate and understated ceremony held on Saturday, November 25th, at Miango town in Jos, Plateau State.

In a refreshing departure from the glitz and glamour often associated with celebrity weddings, Classiq opted for a low-key affair, choosing the Kent Academy school in Miango as the venue for their special day. The guest list was intentionally kept exclusive, limited to close family members who witnessed the heartfelt exchange of vows between the rapper and Geraldine.

Contrary to the elaborate setups that frequently accompany high-profile weddings, Classiq and Geraldine’s ceremony featured minimal decorations and a casual dress code, emphasizing the couple’s commitment to simplicity and authenticity. The focus was squarely on the essence of their union rather than external extravagance.

It is noteworthy that despite Classiq’s fame as a prominent figure in the Nigerian music scene, he consciously steered away from the public eye during this personal milestone. This deliberate choice highlights the rapper’s desire to prioritize the sanctity of his marriage over external attention and societal expectations.

The celebration continued with a serene gathering in Miango, where the newlyweds basked in the joy of their union. Their decision to keep the event private and intimate underscores the couple’s commitment to each other and their shared values.

After years of courtship, Classiq and Geraldine’s wedding day symbolized the culmination of a deep and enduring connection. By eschewing grandiosity and opting for a more subdued celebration, the couple sent a powerful message about the core values that underpin their relationship – a foundation built on love, mutual support, and a commitment to each other’s happiness.

As the Arewa Maf!a rapper embarks on this new chapter of his life, fans and well-wishers can appreciate the sincerity and authenticity that characterized his wedding day. In a world often dominated by extravagant displays of love, Classiq and Geraldine’s choice to celebrate their union in a quiet, meaningful way sets a beautiful example of love that transcends the spotlight.

Teni: “I started drinking alcohol in 2021 for fun”

Teni disclosed that she refrained from smoking or consuming alcohol until 2021, despite having been involved in the music industry for several years.

She unexpectedly revealed this information when she declined a drink offered by the host during a recent episode of the popular Zero Conditions Podcast. When the host expressed surprise and inquired about her decision, she explained that giving up alcohol wasn’t challenging for her since she had only started drinking in 2021.

The host, taken aback, then asked Teni to share her backstory. She replied, saying,

“I began drinking in 2021. Despite being a naturally adventurous person, I spent six years in the industry without indulging in drinking or smoking. My first experience with drinking was in Lagos. Curious about the sensation of getting drunk, I thought, ‘You guys are always getting drunk, what does it feel like? Let me just try it.’ I had Henny, but surprisingly, I didn’t get drunk. I waited for it to happen, but it didn’t, so I just went to sleep. Everyone was like, ‘Aaah, Teni.'”

Teni continued to share that despite the constant pressure to consume alcohol, she successfully abstained while attending the University of Georgia in the United States. She emphasized her commitment to doing only what she wanted, stating, “I didn’t drink while I was in school. Do you know what school I went to? The University of Georgia, it’s a football school, and there’s a lot of pressure to drink, but I didn’t. I only ever do what I want to do. In all the videos and skits where I hold a cup, it’s usually juice or water,” added the singer.

Court of Appeal Sacks 11 Plateau PDP State Assembly Members

In a pivotal legal development, the Court of Appeal in Abuja, under the leadership of Justice Okon Abang, delivered a unanimous verdict on Friday, leading to the removal of 11 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers from the Plateau State Assembly. The panel’s ruling attributed the dismissal to the PDP’s lack of organizational structure, asserting that all 11 PDP legislators garnered invalid votes in the March 2023 general election.

Justice Abang emphasized that the PDP’s breach of section 177 of the 1999 constitution rendered them ineligible to field candidates in the election. Consequently, the Court of Appeal declared the second runners-up in the March 18 elections as the rightful winners, effectively displacing the PDP lawmakers. The affected individuals include Hon Timothy Dantong (Riyom), Hon. Rimyat Nanbol (Langtang North Central), Moses Sule (Mikang), Salome Waklek (Pankshin), Hon. Bala Fwangji (Mangu South), Hon. Maren Ishaku (Bokkos), Hon. Dagogot (Quaanpan North), Nannim Langyi (Langtang North North), Nimchak Rims (Langtang South), Hon. Danjuma Azi (Jos North West), Gwottson Fom (Jos South), and Hon. Abubakar Sani Idris (Mangu North).

With this judicial decision, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has now assumed the dominant position in the Plateau State House of Assembly, securing 22 seats. The Young Peoples Party (YPP) and Labour Party (LP) each hold one seat, leaving the PDP without representation in the assembly.
