The Federal Government has launched a new online portal that allows Nigerians and other applicants to evaluate and authenticate academic certificates without physically visiting the Federal Ministry of Education.
The new system, introduced by the Federal Ministry of Education, is designed to make academic certificate verification faster, easier and more transparent, while reducing the delays and bureaucratic bottlenecks associated with the previous process.
The development is part of the government’s broader digital transformation agenda aimed at moving more public services online.
Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, said the automated credential evaluation and authentication system represents a major step towards modernising education governance and delivering more efficient services to citizens.
According to the Ministry, applicants can now submit their requests, provide the required information and process their academic credential verification online without making physical visits to government offices.
The system is expected to particularly benefit Nigerians living abroad, as well as employers, institutions and other authorised stakeholders seeking to verify academic qualifications.

Why FG Introduced Online Certificate Verification
The Federal Government said the new platform is aimed at reducing bureaucracy, eliminating unnecessary delays and improving access to academic credential verification services.
Beyond individual applicants, the system is expected to provide a more efficient mechanism for employers, educational institutions and other stakeholders to authenticate academic qualifications.
The initiative is also expected to strengthen the credibility and integrity of Nigeria’s academic certification system by providing a more structured digital process for credential verification.
Dr Alausa said the Ministry would continue to leverage technology to improve education administration, enhance institutional efficiency and provide services that are more responsive to the needs of Nigerians.
