In a remarkable gesture of camaraderie and support, the 2019 Political Science graduates from Plateau State University (PLASU) paid a courtesy visit to the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Gabriel K. Dewan. The delegation, led by Esther Dayok, expressed their pride in Dewan’s accomplishments and presented him with an award.

Esther Dayok, speaking on behalf of the former classmates, shared her reflections on Dewan’s journey from their academic days to his current political success. She recalled an academic trip to the National House of Assembly, where Dewan first voiced his political ambitions, and assured him of their continued support and prayers for his future endeavors.
“We thank God for making this day a reality and for making one of our own a worthy member, given the mandate of the people of Panjshir,” Dayok said. “We stand with you to say congratulations. Though it might seem simple, we always knew a time like this would come because there is power in the talk.”
Dayok highlighted Dewan’s early declaration of his political ambitions and expressed confidence in his potential future in the National Assembly by 2027. She praised Dewan for his achievements, including his interventions in educational issues and scholarships, as well as his empowerment initiatives for small-scale business owners.

Hon Mathew Sylvanus Kwarpo, House Committee Chairman on Information, Youth, and Sport, also delivered remarks, lauding Dewan’s leadership and unifying presence in the 10th Assembly. He emphasized the stability and focus Dewan has brought to the House, earning respect across different political parties.

In response, Speaker Rt Hon Gabriel K. Dewan expressed his gratitude to his former classmates for their unwavering support. He reminisced about their shared academic experiences and acknowledged the challenges they faced together. Dewan also addressed the current economic challenges and urged his classmates to remain resilient and supportive of one another.

The visit concluded with the presentation of an award and souvenirs to the Speaker, followed by a group photograph to commemorate the occasion. The heartfelt reunion underscored the enduring bond between Dewan and his former classmates, celebrating his journey from university days to political leadership.
