The Islamic Family Foundation (IFF) has intensified its humanitarian and community development activities in Abuja, combining medical outreach, feeding programmes and family-centred Islamic education with the construction of a major multi-purpose facility in Wasa District of the Federal Capital Territory.
The foundation said its activities are aimed at translating Islamic values into practical community service while creating sustainable platforms for spiritual development, education, healthcare, family support and economic empowerment.
Among its key programmes are regular medical outreaches that provide free consultations, basic treatments, health education and wellness support to underserved communities across the FCT.
According to the foundation, the initiative is designed to bring essential healthcare closer to people who may face challenges accessing medical facilities.
The medical outreach programmes have also received support from partners, including the PAYIMO Charity Foundation.
Beyond healthcare, IFF operates regular feeding programmes for people in need, providing food support throughout the year and increasing interventions during periods of heightened economic and seasonal pressures.
The foundation said the feeding initiative is driven by the Islamic emphasis on caring for neighbours, vulnerable people and members of the wider community.
Speaking on the organisation’s broader vision, Imam Musa Da’ud said the foundation seeks to establish a comprehensive platform for the Muslim family.
“The vision of the organisation is a one-stop centre for the Muslim family, covering spiritual guidance, social enterprise, mentoring, capacity building, physical wellness, nutritional care and education, and emotional support.”
The foundation also holds weekly Usrah sessions every Sunday, bringing together families, young adults and children for discussions on Islamic teachings, personal development, family relationships and contemporary social issues.
The sessions provide an avenue for parents and children to learn together, strengthen family bonds and discuss issues affecting families and communities.
IFF has also called on members of the Muslim Ummah to promote patience, understanding and mutual support in their relationships, particularly when dealing with disagreements and difficult circumstances.
The foundation said these values are essential for strengthening social cohesion and building resilient communities amid growing social and economic pressures.
Wasa International Halal Centre
At the centre of the foundation’s long-term plans is the ongoing construction of the International Halal Centre in Wasa District, Abuja.
The proposed multi-billion-naira complex is expected to include a mosque, school and other facilities dedicated to education, social enterprise and community development.
According to the foundation, the centre is designed to become a comprehensive hub for spiritual development, Islamic studies, information technology and skills acquisition, family counselling, mentoring, welfare services, agriculture and food-related projects.
The project will also incorporate green and sustainable energy solutions as part of its long-term development strategy.
When completed, IFF said the facility will serve families and communities in Abuja and beyond while creating opportunities for learning, skills development, social enterprise and economic empowerment.
Call for Support
The Islamic Family Foundation is appealing to individuals, philanthropists, businesses, community organisations and Nigerians in the diaspora to support the completion of the Wasa project.
The foundation is seeking financial contributions, wills and legacies, partnerships, building materials, equipment, IT resources and professional expertise.
It also welcomes individuals and organisations willing to contribute their time and skills towards the development of the centre.
