The Plateau Women, echoing a collective cry for help, came together in substantial numbers to shed light on the recent wave of heinous attacks in Bokkos, Mangu, and Barkin Ladi LGA. Hon. Chundung, serving as the voice of over 2 million women, expressed deep concern over the escalating situation that disproportionately affects women and children. With a staggering loss of over 295 lives and thousands displaced, the Plateau Women are haunted by the looming threat of potential annihilation.
In a poignant statement, Hon. Chundung outlined the grim reality faced by these defenseless civilians. Last year alone witnessed the loss of over 600 lives, accompanied by the displacement of several villages, all met with a shocking absence of arrests. The Plateau Women, however, found themselves targeted by security agencies based on false claims from Fulani leaders. They passionately seek equal rights and justice, underscoring their commitment to a God-given land that has always welcomed peaceful coexistence.
Despite extending hospitality, the Plateau citizens face continuous attacks in their homes, even against innocent babies. The narrative perpetuated by some, falsely portraying clashes between farmers and herders, persists while the community endures brutal assaults during the darkest hours of the night.
The pressing questions emerge: Are defenseless infants considered combatants? Do clashes happen when people are asleep, and their homes are invaded?
The Plateau Women challenge whether their lives, as Christians or members of a minority ethnicity, warrant global concern and protection. The prevailing situation appears to be nothing short of genocide, reflecting a desire to dominate and impose foreign cultures, traditions, and religion on their community.
The stakes are high, as the threat, if unchecked, could extend beyond their borders. The Plateau Women emphasize the crucial role the world must play in speaking out against this injustice, urging the global community to intervene for the greater peace and security of humanity. A call is made for mounting global pressure on Nigerian authorities to prioritize citizen safety, eliminating bias in the process.
