In a significant effort to bolster security across Plateau State, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has provided over 100 motorcycles, along with raincoats and rainboots, to security agencies. This initiative, aimed at enhancing surveillance in rural areas, addresses the challenge of navigating difficult terrains that have previously hindered effective security operations.
The distribution ceremony took place on Thursday at the Old Government House in Rayfield. Governor Mutfwang emphasized that this move is part of his administration’s broader strategy to safeguard lives and property across the state. He noted that the provision of these logistics marks the first phase of a larger plan to empower security personnel, particularly in rural communities.
“This is a landmark moment in our ongoing efforts to secure peace and stability in Plateau State,” said Governor Mutfwang. “Over the past two months, we have made significant strides in our pursuit of a safer Plateau. Supporting our security agencies with essential logistics, especially in rural areas, is crucial for safeguarding our farmers and ensuring they can cultivate enough food for our people.”
The governor also underscored the state’s investment in advanced technology to tackle security challenges. He warned that strict measures would be in place to prevent any misuse of the motorcycles.
Mr. Samuel Jatau, the Secretary to the Government of the State, mentioned that the distributed items would be allocated to various security agencies, including the military, Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), and Operation Rainbow.
On behalf of the security agencies, Mr. Alexander Barunde, Commandant of NSCDC in Plateau State, expressed deep gratitude to Governor Mutfwang, assuring that the equipment would be utilized effectively to enhance security across the state.
