The Executive Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Area, Hon. Pirfa Jingfa Tyem, has called on residents to rely on verified information and official records when assessing government projects and budgetary allocations, amid growing public discussions over development initiatives in the council area.

In a statement issued on behalf of the chairman by his Chief Press Secretary, Kum Precious, the council acknowledged increasing public interest in governance and accountability but expressed concern over what it described as misleading interpretations of budget provisions circulating on social media.

The chairman emphasized that the approved 2026 budget of Langtang North Local Government is a public document and remains accessible to residents through the Plateau State Government’s transparency platform. He urged citizens to consult official documents before drawing conclusions about public expenditures and project implementation.

According to the statement, a budget serves as a planning and appropriation framework outlining proposed projects, anticipated revenues, and development priorities, noting that the inclusion of a project in the budget does not necessarily mean it has been completed, abandoned, or fully funded.

The council maintained that several projects recently questioned in public discussions are part of the 2026 fiscal framework and are currently at various stages of implementation.

Among the projects highlighted was the construction of the Supervisory Councillors’ Office at the Local Government Secretariat, which the council said is ongoing. It also disclosed that procurement processes for the solar streetlight initiative have been completed, with arrangements underway for shipment, installation, and deployment.

The statement further revealed that fencing works are progressing at Zamko Market, while boreholes have already been drilled to support the construction of sanitation and toilet facilities aimed at improving hygiene and commercial activities within the market.

The chairman urged residents to distinguish between proposed, ongoing, and completed projects to avoid misconceptions about government activities.

He also reminded the public that he assumed office in October 2024 and encouraged citizens to differentiate between projects and expenditures that predate his administration and those undertaken under his leadership.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and prudent resource management, Tyem said the council would soon begin publishing detailed updates on ongoing and completed projects across the local government area. The updates, according to the statement, will include photographs, project locations, implementation timelines, and progress reports to enable residents to monitor development efforts.

The chairman assured residents that his administration remains focused on delivering projects across key sectors, including education, agriculture, healthcare, infrastructure, water resources, security, youth development, and community advancement.

He called for continued public engagement while pledging that the council would remain committed to serving the people of Langtang North with integrity, responsibility, and transparency.
