Wike Brokers Alliance as FCT PDP National Assembly Candidates Step Down for APC in 2027

FCT PDP National Assembly Candidates Step Down for APC Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates contesting National Assembly seats in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have reportedly agreed to withdraw their ambitions and support their counterparts in the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The decision was reached during a Rainbow Coalition meeting hosted by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, at his Abuja residence on Sunday.

The meeting brought together key stakeholders from the PDP and APC in the FCT to discuss strategies for building a united political front in the nation’s capital.

According to reports, following extensive deliberations, the PDP candidates for the Senate and House of Representatives voluntarily agreed to collapse their political structures and support APC candidates contesting the respective seats.

The coalition also reportedly endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, signalling a broader political alliance aimed at strengthening the APC’s chances in the FCT.

Wike, who has been at the centre of political realignments within the PDP, reportedly declared himself the field commander for the planned operations, pledging to coordinate President Tinubu’s campaign structures in both the FCT and Rivers State.

The development is seen as a potential boost for the APC in the nation’s capital and a further indication of Wike’s growing political influence.

The Rainbow Coalition is believed to be part of Wike’s strategy to build a bipartisan alliance capable of mobilising support for Tinubu’s re-election and the APC in the 2027 general elections.

However, the reported agreement is yet to be independently verified.
