APC Declares Dachung Musa Bagos Winner of Jos East/South Reps Primary Rerun

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared Dachung Musa Bagos the winner of its rerun primary election for the Jos East/South Federal Constituency of Plateau State, naming him as the party’s candidate for the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.

The Chairman of the Rerun Electoral Committee, Hon. Karu Simon Elisha, announced the outcome on Thursday, October 29, 2026, following the collation of results from the rerun conducted across 11 wards in Jos East and Jos South Local Government Areas.

According to the committee, Bagos polled 5,523 votes in the rerun, while Esther Beatrice Damboyi secured 1,332 votes. Ajiji Arum, Abok Ayuba and Ajang Alfred each recorded one vote, while Florence D. Young and Rebecca Hadar Sambu scored no votes.

In the final collation, which combined the rerun results with those of the earlier primary election, Bagos emerged with a cumulative total of 12,181 votes.

Damboyi came second with 2,495 votes, followed by Abok Ayuba with 1,121 votes. Ajiji Arum secured 169 votes, Ajang Alfred recorded 95 votes, while Rebecca Hadar Sambu received 56 votes. Florence D. Young recorded no votes.

Elisha said the committee, acting under the authority of the APC National Chairman, recognised Bagos as the party’s candidate for the Jos East/South Federal Constituency in the 2027 National Assembly elections and declared him duly returned.

The rerun election followed a High Court order directing the APC to repeat its primary election in 11 wards within the constituency. The party had stated that the exercise was aimed at ensuring transparency, fairness and compliance with electoral guidelines.

With the announcement, the committee has concluded the collation of the rerun and earlier primary results, clearing the way for the APC to continue preparations for the 2027 House of Representatives election in the constituency.
