The Nigerian Army has placed a combined reward of ₦60 million on two senior leaders of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) after declaring them wanted for their alleged involvement in terrorist activities across the Lake Chad Basin.
The most wanted suspect, Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa, identified as the ISWAP governor (Wali), has a ₦50 million bounty placed on him, while ₦10 million is being offered for credible information leading to the arrest of his deputy, Muhammad Jidda, also known as “The One-Handed Man.”
The Acting Military Information Officer of the Northeast Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, Capt. Muhammed Goni, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday.
According to the military, the identities of the two terrorist leaders were uncovered following forensic analysis of technical devices and intelligence materials recovered during recent offensive operations against ISWAP fighters in the Lake Chad region of Northern Borno State.
Goni explained that troops recovered several high-value intelligence items, including a camcorder allegedly used by ISWAP members to record propaganda videos and document their operations.
He said the forensic exploitation of the recovered devices provided actionable intelligence that exposed locations linked to terrorist activities and revealed the identities of several senior ISWAP commanders operating within the Mangari–Metele–Dogon Chukun axis along the Lake Chad Basin in Abadam and Kukawa Local Government Areas of Borno State.
Among those identified were Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa, Muhammad Jidda, and Hamad Abu Hanifa, described as the Amirul-Fiya of ISWAP, alongside other key operatives.
The military noted that Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa remains the highest-priority terrorist target in the Lake Chad Basin and appealed to members of the public to assist security agencies with credible information that could lead to his capture.
Operation Hadin Kai assured that anyone providing useful information would have their identity kept strictly confidential and protected under established security procedures.
The military also urged residents to support ongoing counter-terrorism efforts by reporting any relevant information through official security channels or via the dedicated hotline: 07084988859.
Authorities, however, warned members of the public against attempting to confront or arrest the wanted suspects, stressing that such actions could endanger lives.
