The Federal Government has opened the application portal for the 2026 Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Initiative Programme, inviting qualified Nigerians to take advantage of the skills development opportunity.
The initiative is designed to bridge the gap between classroom education and the practical skills required in today’s labour market, while creating pathways to employment, entrepreneurship and economic independence for young Nigerians.
Driven by the Federal Ministry of Education, the programme seeks to strengthen technical and vocational education by bringing government agencies, regulatory bodies and accredited training centres under a coordinated national framework.
The TVET initiative also targets Skill Training Centres (STCs), Vocational Enterprise Institutions (VEIs) and Mastercraft Persons (MCPs) who will be responsible for training beneficiaries in various vocational and technical skills.
Selected trainers are expected to receive a monthly stipend of ₦45,000 while providing training to TVET beneficiaries. Qualified trainers and centres may also have access to government-backed funding and loan opportunities to support the expansion of their businesses and training facilities.
Benefits of the 2026 TVET Programme
Successful beneficiaries are expected to enjoy several benefits, including:
- Tuition-free vocational training, with training costs covered by the Federal Government through NELFund.
- Monthly trainee stipend of ₦22,500 to support beneficiaries with transportation and other basic expenses during training.
- Hands-on practical training in selected technical and vocational skills.
- Completion certificates upon successful completion of the programme.
- Take-off grants and starter packs to support graduates who want to establish their own businesses.
- Career guidance and job placement assistance to help participants transition into employment or entrepreneurship.
