Tegha said that the Plateau Bloggers Hub was made up of a unique blend of working bloggers on the plateau numbering 16 with awesome followership. Also stating that the day to day activities of bloggers is carried out by an amount of ICT skill and knowledge as such the need to present the group to the office of the PICTDA.

MasaraKim, of Mk Reporters also advocated that bloggers be carried along to help project government activities and relay government policies to the public. In the same light, IMB Kallamu of 4wardwego.com advised that the PICTDA Director should work with bloggers to help bring out a better picture of the state on the Internet and also avail bloggers the room for trainings when the need arises as it will help them to do better.

PICTDA Director General, Mr Daser David, responded by explaining the creation of The Plateau ICT Development Agency (PICTDA) and further explained the essence of the Plateau State ICT Policy and Strategic Plan, how it was achieved and adopted in the state.

He said the ICT Policy was formulated in 2018 but adopted recently and that Silicon Valley is a value chain where citizens can benefit as there is no legal framework to build skills on the Plateau because it takes a legislation to make such. He said that it must change with ICT as youths must yearn for training and empowerment not just rely on government for employment. The Government was very much interested in turning the tides as leading to the creation of the agency.

He also pointed out some initiatives that will give ICT enthusiast/ Bloggers free internet service after office hours. And he promised to work with bloggers if they will unite and work as one to build the right image for the state. Shortly after the suspension of Adams Oshiomhole, the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has approved the nomination of Waziri Bulama as the party’s acting national secretary.

The Nation reports that the committee also approved the nominations of Abiola Ajimobi as the deputy national chairman (South) and Paul Chukwuma as the national auditor.

Legit.ng gathers that the announcement was contained in a statement released by the party’s national publicity secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, on Wednesday night, March 4.

Also on the same development, Premium Times reports that the deputy national chairman of the party in the northeast, Salihu Mustapha, raised questioned the nomination of Waziri as the party’s acting national secretary. You have failed, please step aside – APC chieftain tells Oshiomhole

He alleged that a meeting held to determine who would occupy the position ended without any decision.

However, the statement by Issa-Onilu said the decision to appoint Waziri as the party’s national secretary by the NWC was reached in January during the meeting of the NWC.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Oshiomhole was on Wednesday suspended as the national chairman of the ruling APC by a Federal Capital Territory high court in Jabi.

Following the development, the (former) acting national secretary of the APC, Chief Victor Giadom, has said the ruling party will respect the court order suspending Oshiomhole.

Giadom in his reaction told newsmen the party will abide by the order.

However, Oshiomhole has filed for a stay of execution of action over the interim order suspending him as the national chairman of the APC.

Simon Egbebulem, chief press secretary to Oshiomhole said the chairman has filed for a stay of execution and appealed the ruling.

He also added that the legal team of Oshiomhole is studying the matter.

Oshiomhole’s suspension, as expected, has sparked up heated arguments and reactions from Nigerians on social media.

Lekan Adigun wrote on Twitter: “I’m beginning to think the Courts are assuming the powers they don’t have. Judges will soon start arrogating to themselves the powers to appoint party chairs. The powers to discipline party officers are internal displinary mechanisms!”

Oloye Ayo Gbadebo wrote: “After suspending oshiomhole,COURT should extend that COURTesy to the S/W too. Abi he no touch party leader ni?Face with tears of joy. High court pls, Suspend everybody danu, they are not doing well jare.”

Osirmah commented: “Can’t wait for Adams oshiomhole to give his own interpretation of the court suspension.”

“Oshiomhole is unshakable, Obaseki and Co can only try their best to dislodge him, but to their greatest surprise they will never succeed. Those few men against Adams are obviously not loyal to the APC party and its course, they are good for nothing, good looking bad eggs,” General Michael Akanji wrote.

DJ Val: A Maverick at the Turntable

The common idea in Nigeria is that anyone who is not a Doctor, Lawyer or Engineer, is wasting his time and resources in school. Worse than this is the thinking that it is only these people who can become very rich and influential in the society. At the extreme opposite of this spectrum, is the belief that entertainers—musicians, dancers, comedians, and yes, disc jokiers—are unintelligible, good-for-nothing, and god-forsaken people. It is only until recently when among all the resources Nigeria has, the entertainment industry became the next viable export after crude oil, then people began to abandon the idea. Yet, the brutish thinking that entertainers are rascals still exists in some places.

These places are in our schools, in the lips of our teachers and lecturers, in our churches and in the sermon of our preachers, and in our families, in the admonition of our parents. So the persecution starts very early when a young Nigerian child begins to develop an interest in entertainment, aiming to make a career out of his natural interests and nurtured talent. The society, with their constant castigation, makes the environment hostile for these people.

But recently, the wave of success, humble character, and the good life of some entertainers, has begun to change people’s perception.

The story of Ejimbe Valentine lends credence to the aforementioned; the famed DJ Val who in an innovative manner, created a party series named Wet, Wild, and Wasted, growing it from a party that hosted grassroots artistes to international acts within two years.

Wet, Wild, Wasted 1.0 featured regional upcoming artistes from Awka, Asaba, and Enugu. Coming to its second edition, Wet, Wild, Wasted boasted of artistes like X-Busta, Emeka Solomon, Rhatti, YGB and many more. By this time, these parties usually hosted by the poolside, in the highest pitch of night’s darkness, has attracted wilder ladies with creamy and chocolate thighs, all of them generously paraded, leading men into fun, temptation, and enjoyment.

Wet, Wild, Wasted 3.0 made it clear, through the flyers that advertised it, that it was not child’s play, and that DJ Val has evolved, eclipsing the bar set by whoever may have in the past claimed to be the Night King. Brimming with activities, playing host to activities that cannot be mentioned in family homes, the party became a brilliant night of desired fun, although some people will call it sin.

There was the DNA twins, there was Oxlade, there was Will, and there was YGB. But wait, there also was Fireboy, the RnB coroner who would later release an ‘every track is a hit’ album. That night, Ejimbe Valentine, the young man commonly known as DJ Val, was at the turntable, bending, cutting, and joining tracks. The beats that came from his mastery equally bent the morality of the party attendees, cut away the quietness of introverts who were present, and joined the body of men and women who went from dancing to that other activity best done indoors and without clothes.

The disturbing question now is “How could a quiet man lead a loud party, becoming a mastero, with his humble character, in a field that had been renowned for braggadocio and recklessness? The answer is simple: you do not necessarily need to lose yourself to the game, to your job, to your work—and that it is what it means to be Ejimbe Valentine, DJ Val

Supreme Court Dismissed Ihedioha’s Judgment Reversal Bid

The Supreme Court has finally delivered ruling in the application by a former Imo state governor, Emeka Ihedioha seeking to review and set aside the judgment of the court that brought Senator Hope Uzodinma to power as the state governor.

Chief Justice of Nigeria and Chairman of a seven member panel, Justice Ibrahim Muhammad after hearing the application filed by Ihedioha adjourned to deliver ruling in the matter. In its judgement, the Supreme Court on Tuesday threw out the appeal by immediate Governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha, asking it to set aside its January 14, 2020 judgment sacking him.

The apex court said it had no power to entertain Ihedioha’s appeal. INEC had declared Ihedioha as winner of the March 9, 2019 governorship election on the ground that he won majority of lawful votes cast at the governorship poll.

The Imo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal and the Court of Appeal in their concurrent decisions in the appeal filed by Senator Uzodinma, upheld Ihedioha’s election and dismissed Uzodinma’s petition on grounds that he did not prove his allegations against the election of Ihedioha. But the apex court held otherwise.

The apex court in its judgment disagreed with the decisions of the appeal court on the grounds that they erred in law when they excluded votes from 388 polling units from the total scores at the poll. According to the apex court in the judgment delivered by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, when the excluded votes totalling over 200,000 were added, Uzodinma and not Ihedioha actually won majority of the lawful votes cast in the March 9 governorship election in Imo State.

The apex court consequently declared Uzodinma Governor of Imo State and ordered the INEC to withdraw the earlier certificate of return issued to Ihedioha and issued a fresh one to Uzodinma.

The court accordingly ordered that Senator Uzodinma, candidate of the All Progressive Congress which came fourth in the election be sworn in as Governor of Imo State. Miffed by the decision, Ihedioha, approached the apex court with a request to reverse his sack early this year on the grounds of nullity. In arguing his application, Ihedioha’s lawyer, Chief Kanu Agabi SAN, told the court that they are praying the court to change its mind because of certain inherent errors in the judgment that removed his client from office.

He claimed that the apex court did not consider the judgment of the Court of Appeal which struck out Uzodinma’s appeal for being incompetent, adding that as at the time the apex court gave its judgment, the decision was still substiting Agabi in point another error he said was contained in the judgment, Agabi wondered where the issue of 388 polling units came about when in actual fact, Uzodinma had had tendered results of 366 polling units which he claimed was excluded from the total figure of votes cast at the election. He said, “the judgment gave them credit in 22 polling units from nowhere”, adding that, ” contrary to all precedent, the number of votes cast at the election exceeded the number of accreditation by 129,000″.

He also argued that the judgment did not show that the APC had the necessary Constitutional spread to be declared as winner of the election, adding that the appeallants ought not to have benefited from an election which they claimed was invalid by reason of alleged malpractices. “They themselves stigmatized the election as been invalid and as such cannot be beneficiary. From all our pleadings and from evidence, 366 instead of 388 polling units have dispute.

“There is something wrong with them. It is a fatal error on the part of the Supreme Court. If he tendered results of 366 polling units and gets results in 388 polling units, how did he do it”, Agabi SAN submitted. He therefore urged the court to set aside its judgment sacking Ihedioha and restore the verdict of the Court of Appeal. He submitted that by section 6 of the Constitution, the Supreme Court has all powers, including powers to correct its errors. Responding, counsel to Uzodinma and the APC, Mr Damian Dodo SAN, urged the court to dismiss the application for being incompetent and lacking in merit.

Dodo said they are opposing the application because the court lacked the jurisdiction to entertain it in the first place. Dodo said, “Whether the application is characterized as an application for review or classified as an application to set aside or so ever dressed or clothed, this Court has consistently and rightly so held that it lacked powers to sit on appeal over its own judgment and this is what it is”.

He said said what the applicants are asking the court to do amounts to an invitation to review its judgment and that is not tenable. He argued further that the judgment in dispute was clear enough and does not fall into any of those situations where the court can review its judgment, adding that reviewing this particular case would imply that the Supreme Court did not think through its judgment before it was delivered.

“The fundamental thing here is jurisdiction, the law says there is no jurisdiction for this court to sit on appeal over its own judgment”, he said, adding that for the court to set aside the judgment it must first hear the appeal, which is something the court does not allow.

He also refuted the claim that they called for the nullification of the election, explaining that a litigant has right to choose the best option in prosecuting his case. According to him, the appellants abandoned that relief and relied only on the one praying the court to return them as winner of the poll following compelling evidence at their disposal that they won the election.

On the judgment of the Court of Appeal which dismissed their case, Dodo submitted that the judgment of the Supreme Court which set aside the judgment of the Court of Appeal has completely taken care of all issues raised at the lower court.

He subsequently asked the Supreme Court to dismiss the application for lacking merit. Justice Muhammad after listening to the submissions of parties in the suit, announced that judgment would be delivered later today.
