Kingdom Kids Klub, a dynamic organization committed to championing the rights of children in communities, recently held its inaugural “Mother Me” (Uwa Na) meeting at the Odilins Event Centre in Jos, Nigeria. The event brought together influential women from various fields who shared a common goal: advocating for kinship care, supporting orphans, and promoting foster parenting. Spearheaded by Sandra Chikan, the Global Director of Kingdom Kids Klub and Vice President of the Association of Orphanages and Home Operators in Nigeria (ASOHON) Northern Region, this meeting aimed to raise awareness and create a strong network of support for vulnerable children.

During the meeting, Sandra Chikan emphasized the importance of raising champions within communities who would stand up for the rights of children in need. By encouraging community members to support and care for orphans and providing foster parenting, the Kingdom Kids Klub aims to create a nurturing environment where these children can thrive and fulfill their potential. The power of collective efforts in creating a better future for orphaned children cannot be understated.

“One of the key highlights of the “Mother Me” meeting was the explanation of the adoption process for orphans. This insightful presentation shed light on the complexities and legalities involved in providing a loving home to a child in need. Understanding the adoption process is crucial in empowering potential foster parents to take the necessary steps in making a difference in the lives of these children”.

Praise Hon, the Executive Director of Charis HealthCare & Community Support Initiative, discussed the critical issue of mental health and its impact on the lives of orphans. Her presentation highlighted the importance of providing proper mental health support to these children for their overall well-being and development.

Pastor Toyin Wiggins, Co-Founder, and Team Lead of Wiggins Walking in the Mission, passionately spoke about the need for compassionate individuals to recognize and support the initiatives of Kingdom Kids Klub. The organization’s endeavors to provide education, healthcare, and other necessary attention to orphans require the collective support of the community to succeed.

Dr. Jophia Nanker Gupar, the visionary Founder/President of the Pan African Young Women Development Initiative (PAYWODI), delivered a compelling presentation expertly represented by Yanat John, from the National Council for Women Societies Plateau State Chapter.

Dr. Gupar’s speech revolved around the indispensable role of women in community development and its profound impact on caring for orphans. She eloquently emphasized that when women actively participate in community initiatives, it creates a nurturing environment where the welfare of vulnerable children is prioritized. Women bring unique qualities, such as compassion, empathy, and resilience, which are crucial in providing love and support to orphaned children.

Simi Simji Gushwer, Executive Director of Simji Girl Child Initiative Empowerment Orphanage, expressed her admiration for the “Mother Me” meeting, particularly in light of recent attacks in some parts of Plateau State. She stressed the urgency of supporting homeless children, as neglecting their care would contribute to significant social challenges in the future. Simi’s appreciation underscored the importance of spreading awareness and garnering support for Kingdom Kids Klub’s crucial mission.

In addition to the insightful guest speakers, the “Mother Me” meeting fostered an interactive and engaging environment through a group work session.

The group work session was a valuable opportunity for attendees to share their experiences, expertise, and creative solutions in addressing the pressing challenges faced by homeless children. From exploring outreach programs to raising awareness about child welfare, the ideas generated during this session served as a foundation for future initiatives to provide much-needed care and support to those in need.

The maiden “Mother Me” meeting of Kingdom Kids Klub brought together influential women who shared a passion for supporting vulnerable children. By advocating for kinship care, encouraging foster parenting, and providing a nurturing environment, this organization is taking vital steps towards empowering the next generation.

Military hand over 130 small arms and light weapons recovered in Plateau

The National Centre for the Control of Small weaponry and Light Weapons (NCCSALW) has successfully received 130 recovered illicit weaponry from Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), under the command of Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, who also oversees security in Plateau State.

Major General Abubakar, who is also the General Officer Commanding the 3rd Division of the Nigerian Army, revealed during the handover ceremony that the illegal weapons had been taken from criminal elements during security operations carried out in accordance with the OPSH.

The breakdown of the seized weapons includes nine Harris Burg pistols, 21 locally manufactured pistols, one English pistol, two locally manufactured SMGs, 14 AK-47 rifles, one G3 rifle, and eight locally manufactured AK-47 rifles. 28 AK-47 magazines, three locally made magazines, one RPG7 tube, 1,522 rounds of ammo, 500 rounds of 9mm ammunition, six cartridges, and four RPG7 rockets with chargers are also included in the retrieved materials.

General Abubakar emphasized that throughout the forces’ operations, these small arms and light weapons, as well as drugs, motorcycles, and automobiles, were recovered using both kinetic and non-kinetic techniques, resulting in the successful rescue of abducted victims.

The Nigerian Federal Government developed a plan to eradicate illegal firearms in an effort to combat the needless violence and insecurity brought on by the proliferation of small arms and light weapons in communities. To combat the unlawful possession and circulation of these weapons, the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons was approved as part of this strategy.

In order to promote a society free from the use of illicit weapons, General Abubakar proudly remarked that OPSH has had tremendous success in reducing the circulation of such weapons.

General Abubakar proudly noted that OPSH has achieved remarkable success in curbing the circulation of illicit arms, thereby fostering a society free from the harmful effects of such weapons.

The Coordinator of the North Central Zone of NCCSALW, Major General Hamza Ibrahim Bature, commended the troops’ efforts in recovering the small arms and light weapons under the leadership of the Commander of Operation Safe Haven. He emphasized the significance of retrieving even a single weapon from unauthorized persons, as it potentially saves multiple lives. Major General Bature urged the people of Plateau State to support OPSH in its mission to create an illicit arms-free society, calling for continued collaboration through both kinetic and non-kinetic means.

“To get just one weapon out of the hands of unauthorized persons means several lives have been saved and to have recovered this quantity of recovered arms you can imagine the number of people that would have fallen if this weapon were still in their hands” Maj Gen Hi Bature (Rtd) stated

He further appealed to the media to accurately report incidents involving unauthorized persons with weapons and to support the efforts of military outfits and other armed organizations and agencies. By doing so, Nigerians can better appreciate and understand the extent of their contributions to security efforts.

The Odyssey of PMAN Plateau State Chapter – Sharkskin

For most of you who are aware of PMAN Odyssey in plateau state; some of you will agree with me that the journey of PMAN Plateau state chapter has been a journey of immense trial’s in the advancement and protection of musicians rights and the value chain that comes with its packages.

The vision to put in place structures that will put generally “smiles ” on the faces of musicians has had its own nightmares of some sort.

“Rome was not built in a day” so also is PMAN Plateau State chapter too.

If you don’t know the story behind the growth of PMAN Plateau State chapter, you sure will Bink a red eye towards what you don’t know as true so don’t spit what you don’t know but rather investigate and know the history of facts before you pull the pin on the grenade.

PMAN, like any other Union; has done its best and its still on going making means to see that all hands commune together to oversee that the ” musicians” benefits from what obviously is his profession of work force and grace

The journey to maintain adequately the full package and of course the benefits that tingle the light at the end of the tunnel without a doubt; has met its bashing, cursing, insults, dissatisfactions as in how a real Union should be managed or staged. Don’t you know that a drop of water makes a mightier ocean?

PMAN has met so much loud criticisms and scrutiny from some empirical characters in view of what they think should be done rightly as it concerns the growth of the artist; ofcourse everybody wants to be in the good book of governance and the benefits that comes with it. So come around, join the union and let’s know more of your suggestion instead of pulling the Union after all intention to unite everyone.

Right from when I won the first PMAN Talent Hunt in 1996 at Plateau Hotel Rock-Garden to this date, there hasn’t been a second edition of it, as one who is the Head of the Board of Trustees of PMAN Plateau State Chapter, I mean it well with the Governor Comrade Humphrey Bobby Color to make it a duty to see that the second edition of the PMAN Talent hunt will be held in Jos and you could be the next to win the second Edition, trust me, there are other programs that have been aligned by the Chairman of the Union and it is super inviting if you will only “Calm Down”.

Why am I writing this article you may ask, it is because of the fact that most of those who are bashing and criticising Pman Plateau State Chapter don’t see the hard work behind the scene in trying to get PMAN work for the common good of musician in the state and of course what our President Pretty Okafor is also doing at the national level.
There are benefits obviously so good, please don’t ignore if you are truly a musician or an artist of other capacities.

It takes a lot of determination and hard work to see that “You” the musician don’t suffer what we suffered in the past and not benefit what truly is your right? Don’t be ignorant of the truth, if you don’t know ask questions .

It has not been easy; the Journey from greats like Steve promotions who worked With Murphy Mark Anthony the comrade who brought PMAN to Jos in the 90’s cannot be shoved aside, me winning the First PMAN Talent Hunt in 1996 in Jos too.

Panam Percy Paul to Larry Zuka and Late Sir Elsadeek Yola to the likes of Sir Chris Isibor , to veterans like Sahmicit Solomon , Stanley badger(Mr Wolf) to the likes of those presently aligning with the vision and mission statements. It is clear that the vision is on.

I believe the sky is just the beginning for entertainers in Jos and across Nigeria to enjoy the benefits therein, I mean untapped benefits for you, if you will only see the good of what the union stands for. I remain yours faithfully Comrade Sharkskin Kevin Williams a.k.a Agbon-IRIGWE. Still representing; CHEERS!
