Father assaults daughter for refusing his s3xual advances

A Nigerian father has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his daughter after she refused his sexual advances.

The man has since maliciously shaved her hair before he brutalized her with a wood.

The Nigerian father identified as Bamidele Aribanusi, has been accused of brutalizing his 11-year-old daughter for allegedly refusing his sexual advances in Ketu area of Lagos State.

It was gathered that the 60-year-old retired driver attacked the minor with a wood filled with nails on Sunday, May 30; after he sent her on an errand and she went to the wrong shop.

According to a source;

“This is not the first time he’s brutalizing her.

In fact, he beats her on a daily basis and the little girl just confirmed it to us today that he always puts his finger in her private part whenever no one is around.

The girl’s mother is dead and Mr Aribanusi, who’s her biological father is an alcoholic and also a smoker.

Yesterday he used a wood filled with nails to hit her on her head. After he left the house, the neighbors took her to the hospital to treat the wound.

When he came back and saw her wound has been treated, he started hitting her again and locked her up in the house. He even stopped her from going to school today and from leaving the house.

She can’t hear properly due to incessant abuse. Her refusal to his sexual demands is one of the major reasons he beats her up every time.”

in his opening remark the commander emphasized that “any community that we hear gunshots STF will go there and anywhere the weapons are hidden, it must be found at all cost or the Community leaders will be held responsible”.

We have come to realise that it is during farming season that the tension between farmers and herders escalate and killings arise from disputes, Dc Onyemelu added.

He gave the Community leaders a charge to go and resolve their dispute peacefully at their community level and warn their people that criminality and violence will no longer be tolerated as the command is battle ready to fish out all the culprits and it will no longer tolerate how communities hide the bad eggs perpetrating the heinous crimes.

Man allegedly kills roommate, sells body parts for rituals

A 34-year-old man, Okpegboro Avwerosuo, has allegedly killed his roommate in Sagbama Town, Sagbama Local Government Area (SALGA) of Bayelsa.

Okpegboro was alleged to have sold the deceased’s vital organs to a pastor in Port Harcourt who is currently at large, for ritual purposes.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Asinim Butswat, confirmed the story. Butswat said that the suspect, who hails from Ugheli North Local Government Area of Delta, was being detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

He said that the name of the victim had yet to be known.

Sources disclosed that the man invited the deceased, his friend, to Sagbama to join the motorcycle riding business; assuring him that the business is flourishing in the town. The deceased had spent barely two weeks in the town when Okpegboro struck him on the skull with a pestle in the night and killed him.

The sources further explained that after killing him, he dismembered the body, preserved the vital organs and put the other parts in separate sacks which he disposed off in the early hours of the following day. While disposing the sacks, another neighbour who saw the man and suspected his movement confronted him. The neighbour demanded to know the whereabouts of his roommate.

“The suspect claimed that the deceased has travelled back to Delta State for an urgent business. Not satisfied with his response, the neighbour forced his way into the room and saw blood stains everywhere.

“The neighbour held him down and alerted the local vigilante which eventually called the police in to arrest the suspect.

“Upon interrogation before he was handed over to the police; the suspect confessed that he had sold the vital organs of his friend to a pastor in Port Harcourt; who is currently at large for ritual purposes,’’ he explained.

The President of SALGA Federated Youth Council Worldwide, Mr Preye Casey, in a statement, condemned the killing of the young man. Casey urged the youth of Sagbama to be on alert to checkmate the activities of non-indigenes in the town; as security tension continued to rise across the country.

“Just yesterday, the decomposing body of a young man was discovered in the bush; with several parts of the body already butchered into pieces and placed in sack bags.

“The Nigeria Police, Sagbama Division, was alerted…It led to the arrest of a young man in Sagbama Federated Community; suspected to have been the perpetrator of the ungodly act.’’

He condemned the act and called on Sagbama youths to be vigilant as they went about their normal activities; especially in the wake of the rising insecurity level in the country. Furthermore, he appealed to the security agencies to fish out those behind the murder of the young man.

World Bank Covid-19 Economic Stimulus Funds, Plateau State To Benefit 8Billion Naira

In preparation for the implementation of the World Bank funded COVID-19 Action Economic Stimulus Program for Result (NG-CARES), Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has inaugurated a Steering Committee that will supervise the implementation of the program in the State.

While inaugurating the Steering Committee at the Government House Rayfield Jos, the Governor said Plateau State is fully ready to participate in the implementation of the Program which is financed by the World Bank and has fulfilled the requirements to access to $20 million dollars (over 8 billion naira) from the $750 million dollars granted to the Federal Government to address the negative consequences of Covid-19 on our economy.

He said “we are all witnesses to the fact that Covid-19 has severely affected the lives of our citizens and that of the State in General. This has exposed poor and vulnerable households to challenges in multiple fronts. These include job losses; losses in business incomes; food insecurity; and general inability to obtain basic services for day to day living. This is even worsened by the drastic fall in Government revenues”.

Lalong said the programme is commendable as it will assist the State to mitigate the impact of the pandemic. In ensuring that our people benefit, Plateau State opted to implement all the three Result Areas of the programme because of their expected social intervention impacts on the economy.

The Governor said over 60,129 citizens of Plateau State are expected to benefit from the project which has the potential of transforming the landscape of the State economy.

Among other things, the State CARES Steering Committee (SCSC) will be responsible for providing oversight direction to the implementing agencies; approving their work plans and budgets; ensuring that funds are released to delivery platforms in accordance with the funds flow agreement; as well as ensuring that there is full compliance with the Program Appraisal Document.

Lalong also warned that his administration will not tolerate failure “I shall be personally monitoring your activities to ensure that the State gets maximum benefit from its participation. Any act of non-performance or willful sabotage will not be tolerated in this program. Since this is an emergency operation with clearly spelled out guidelines, each platform should work within the confine of its responsibilities to avoid task conflict which could affect performance” he said.

He thanked the World Bank Task Team leader Prof. Folosho Okunmodewa and the National Coordinator for NG-CARES Dr. Abubakar Obaje for their commitment and support for the takeoff of the project.

Chairman of the Committee and Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning Mr. Sylvester Wallangko while responding on behalf of other members said they will put in their best to achieve the objectives of the programme.
