APC Crisis: Aggrieved APC Governorship Aspirants call for cancellation of the primaries that produced Dr Nentawe

Aggrieved Gubernatorial aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have called for the cancellation of the just concluded APC Governorship Primaries which saw the emergence of Dr Nentawe as the flag bearer of the APC.

This was contained in a text of a press conference signed by the Secretary of the Forum of Plateau APC Governorship Aspirants Dr Danyaro D. Sarpiya.

According to the text, “The issues raised bordered on lack of sincerity, hijack of the selection process of candidate by the Governor and his family members, No level playing ground for all aspirants etc.”

“These warnings manifested when party officials, Local Government Chairmen and commissioners were directed to work and return Dr. Nentawe Yilwada or risk losing their positions.”

They stressed that “Governor Simon Bako Lalong and the party had been warned of not playing to avoid the repeat of Zamfara and Rivers State primaries in 2019 which made them to completely got aged out, the same scenario if not worse is being played in all the APC primaries in the state.”

Stressing that “We wrote to the National Chairman on the 25th May, 2022 complaining of no delegates election in any ward in the state and we have delegates forms paid and supplied by the party uptill this time there is no information about the delegates election. We were informed that the expired party congresses delegates will be adopted for the governorship primaries which we objected that it was contrary to the provision of the electoral act and the party guideline. Even the expired adhoc delegates continued to have alterations at the venue of the primaries and the final list was not made known to aspirants to even campaign for votes. Only to have arranged people queuing for election as delegates with tags even those from our local wards were not known to us.”

They noted that “The venue was over taken by government officials to safe their appointments, all the Local Government Chairmen and Government appointees who were not delegated yet they were more in the hall than the delegates.”

Their grounds of appeal are as follows:

  1. That we are registered members of the All Progressive Congress
    Party.
  2. That our membership in the party is over the mandatory requirement of 12 months
  3. That we obtained and submitted the prescribed form to contest in the gubernatorial primaries of our Party after paying the mandated fees into one of the party’s accredited Bank.
  4. That we all have obtained far beyond the required minimum educational qualification for the position.
  5. That there was no delegate election and the list of delegates was
constantly being amended with the last change effected on the day of the primaries.
  6. That the delegates were sequestered by political appointees as well as Local Government Chairmen.
  7. That during the primaries, unauthorized persons were in the venue to intimidate and follow up delegate votes.
  8. That the whole process was not in consonance with the APC Guidelines for the Nomination of Candidates for the 2023 General Elections, The All Progressive Congress Constitution (October 2014 As AMENDED) as well as the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999(As Amended).

In closing they called for the following reliefs;

  1. A declaration that the Gubernatorial primaries held on the 26/5/22 that returned Dr. Nentawe Yilwada is not in consonance with the APC Guidelines for the Nomination of Candidates for the 2023 General Elections, The All Progressive Congress Constitution (October 2014
AS AMENDED) as well as the Constitution of the Federal Republic of
    Nigeria 1999 (As Amended).
  2. A declaration that the Gubernatorial primaries held on the 26/5/22 is null and void and liable to be set aside.
  3. An Order for review of congresses from the ward level upwards for the proper election of delegates to participate in another primaries to produce a credible candidate.

Dr. Patrick Dakum dismayed over the APC Primaries, says that the process was compromised

Dr. Patrick Dakum, popular APC aspirant shows dismay over the APC primaries which took place at Langfield, 26th May, 2022

Dr. Patrick Dakum said that the goal of going into the contest for Governorship was born out of a very deep passion for Plateau State, out of a deep passion for inclusiveness in the governance of the state, out the deep passion to ensure that you don’t throw away the bathing water with the baby, meaning that every government that has come out on the Plateau has excellent point and excellent things that they have done, therefor for them the wanted to take the best practices only from the past government and consolidate them into a program that they will use an outcome drilling implementation process in other to move development faster than what it is

He also went further to state that for him as a child of God, the destiny of Plateau and the destiny of us as individuals is in the hands of God and so for him circumstances do not change what comes out of the inside

He made an adage saying “if you shake a bottle that contents a coke it is coke that would come out, and if you shake a bottle with water, it is water that would come out, so if you have joy inside if you shake that person that is what would come out and that is why some couple of people have been saying even after the event you are not looking depressed that they are expecting his to cry but he said the only cry is that the cry that if we are not careful, development on the Plateau will be taken 10years backwards as a result of we ourselves using our own hands to truncate development”

Talking about the Primaries, over 283 people came together to put up the funds to purchase the Gubernatorial form for him at the rate of N50M, after which they went for clearance and screening which was successful and commendable by him

The first issue they started having was the issue of who is actually a delegate, and how is a delegate supposed to be produced, they were told that the delegate were going to be produced according to the guidelines through an elective process in the various wards

They were further told that it is better to now use delegates that were elected for a particular election which was to elect the state officials of the party whose roles were expired but if the community want those people they can re-affirm them but change those the need to change to reflect the constitution of the party which is making sure there are two women

They asked for the list of delegates, because the needed to know the people involved in the process but they were then told by some of their supporters that the delegate were going to be accommodated by the government

He tried his best and met some of the delegates because he has the courage and confidence, being one of the candidates that has gone round the 17 LGAs twice and met with APC members drown from all the wards

During the primaries he noticed that the accreditation of delegates was not as seamless, because they could not identify who the real delegates are

They were giving rules that any delegates that comes can take a piece of paper and write the name of the candidate he wants, if he or she doesn’t know how to write, they can call the attention of the agents to assist them write the name or the can just call it out, the local government that came first, only two people were able to read and write, showing the reflection of the level of illiteracy rate in that place

He went further to state that there was a lot of intimidation, local government chairmen were present, and that the pattern continues with a lot delegates claiming they don’t know how to read and write.

At that point he realised that the process will not produce a transparent result and he decided to walk out of the premises with some other aspirants after which the file a complaint, a protest letter to the appeal committee

He concluded by saying that the Primaries was definitely compromised, and that they awaits the verdict of the appeal committee before the take it up from there.

Plateau2023: Sen. Jang Debunks Endorsing Mutfwang For Gov, Yakubu Jang For Deputy

RE: SENATOR JANG ENDORSES MUTFWANG FOR GOVERNOR, YAKUBU JANG FOR DEPUTY

The attention of Senator (Dr) Jonah David Jang has been drawn to a publication on social media alleging that he has endorsed a candidate and “stated outrightly that they should go and deliver Mutfwang at the polls as that is his choice.”

The said publication veiled in mischief alleges also that “Mutfwang had been made to sign an agreement to pick Yakubu Jang as deputy, with the hope that when the unfortunate happens with Mutfwang , Yakubu will take over government.

While we want to state categorically that Jang has made it clear that he is not endorsing any candidate, rather the people , who are the major stakeholders in any sane democratic set up will choose a candidate among equals. Senator Jang has watched how the primaries have been going on, in a free and fair mode and that the outcomes reflect the wishes of the people.
He believes that the crop of aspirants seeking to govern the state on the platform of the PDP are eminently qualified and the party should elect its candidate as it has done so far, without fear or let, like was done with the other primaries.

Dragging the Jang family into the contest at this time is the height of mischief and amounts to wicked scheming on the part of politicians who wish to tarnish his hard-earned reputation. We are quick to recall that in 2019 it was alleged that Senator Jang supported the emergence of Senator J.T Useni so as to pave way for Yakubu to be his deputy ( it turned out to be false as it never was) . For the avoidance of doubt, Yakubu Jang is not seeking to be deputy Governor and even if he were to be given the offer, he will decline it.

It is unfortunate that people will go to the extent of wishing someone s terminally ill just to score cheap political patronage.
Like with the other primaries earlier held, Senator Jang believes that the delegates will elect those who will be in the best interest of the State.
On this wise, we want to call on the people to discard the said publication as it is nothing but the handiwork of mischief makers, bent on tarnishing the image of Senator (Dr) Jonah David Jang and that of his family.

Barr. Caleb Mutfwang debunks alleged Endorsement by Senator Jang, describes it as the ploy of APC Moles in PDP

Barrister Caleb Mutfwang debunks alleged Endorsement by Senator Jang, describes it as the ploy of APC Moles in PDP

One of the frontrunners and contender for the Gubernatorial ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Barrister Caleb Mutfwang has described the rumors of his alleged endorsement by Senator Jonah Jang as a mere figment of the imaginations of the authors.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by Barrister Caleb Mutfwang and circulated on social media. Barrister Mutfwang described the story of the purported endorsement and agreement to pick Yakubu Jang as running as an unnecessary distraction caused by none other than the moles of the All Progressives Congress (APC)in the PDP who have suggested a protest vote if Barrister Mutfwang is voted.

He described the rumor in his own words as “The same lies…reminiscent of the perpetrators of the 2015 ‘Plateau Project’ which hoodwinked then populace into the tragedy we all are in now”.

He pointed out that the procedure for picking a running mate is the responsibility of the party in consultation with relevant stakeholders which has been the culture since the inception of the PDP.

Mutfwang likened the smear campaign to the ordeal of HE Ahmed Makarfi in 1999, stressing that not only did HE Makarfi survive the fruitless endeavor of demarketing frontliners, he went on to become one of the greatest Governor’s of Kaduna State, adding that Senator (Gen) JT Useini suffered same acrimony and yet became the party’s Candidate and is still with the PDP.

He cautioned that the coming hours are truly defining both for the party and the State, pointing out that Leaders, Stakeholders and Delegates of the party will surely do the right thing by giving Plateau State the best man leading to the 2023 General Elections.
