Joseph Ofori Ampomah, known professionally as JOE and also recognized as King Emerald, is a Ghanaian blogger, creative industry expert, songwriter, and entrepreneur. He has made significant contributions to the Ghanaian creative and business sectors, most notably as the CEO of Ghanamusicblog Network, a prominent website dedicated to promoting and sharing Ghanaian music with a global audience, and as the founder of Emerald Impressions, a digital printing press based in Ghana.
Joseph Ofori Ampomah was born in Greater Accra, Ghana, and was raised by both of his parents. His early education took place at Peace Academy International School in Accra, where he laid the foundation for his academic journey. Subsequently, he pursued his secondary education at Springboard International Senior High School. His passion for web development led him to seek further education, and he gained admission to Stanford University Online, where he completed a comprehensive program in website development in 2019.
In 2016, Joseph, in collaboration with his brother, known as Bigsam, embarked on a journey in the music industry. Together, they formed the musical group “2kings Gh.” Their musical endeavors met with success, and they quickly gained recognition in the vibrant Ghanaian music scene. Concurrently, Joseph’s unwavering passion for blogging led him to multitask as both a musician and a blogger.
In the same year, recognizing the immense potential within the Ghanaian music industry, Joseph established his own entertainment management company, Ghanamusicblog Network. This platform was created with a primary focus on promoting and sharing Ghanaian music with the world. The website, known for its wide-ranging music genres, including hiplife, highlife, gospel, afrobeats, and more, has played a pivotal role in advancing the careers of both budding and established Ghanaian artists.
Joseph’s entrepreneurial spirit didn’t stop there. In 2022, he ventured into the graphic design and printing industry by founding Emerald Impressions, a company specializing in digital printing services based in Ghana.
His influence in the entertainment industry expanded even further in 2019 when he worked as a ticket accreditation agent for Afro Nation, a prominent music festival that made its debut in Ghana. Additionally, he collaborates with Adesegun Adeosun Jnr, popularly known as Smade, a Nigerian-born British event promoter, creative industry expert, and entrepreneur. Smade is the co-founder and CEO of Afro Nation, a festival that has made waves internationally. Joseph also collaborates with Bizzle Entertainment, an event management company based in the UK.
Joseph Ofori Ampomah’s notable contributions to the Ghanaian entertainment and creative industries have garnered recognition. He was honored with nominations for the prestigious “Entertainment Founder Of The Year” award at the FOYA (Future of Young Africans) Awards in 2021, 2022, and 2023, highlighting his significant impact in the industry.
