The Department of State Services (DSS) has warned citizens and all individuals against unruly behaviours and non-adherence to protocols during inauguration activities to usher in the new administration.
In a statement by its spokesman, Peter Afunanya, the DSS said it is aware of plans by subversive elements to disrupt the programmes in parts of the country.
According to the Service, the aim is to undermine security agencies’ efforts at ensuring peaceful ceremonies as well as creating panic and fear among members of the public.
“Based on these, citizens, the media and Civil Society Organisations are advised to adhere strictly to security and civil protocols during the events.
“They are also urged to shun fake news, false alarms, skewed reportage/narratives and sensationalism that may likely inflame division, tension and violence prior to and after the exercises.
“This is more so that such undesirable acts will serve no purpose other than destroying national unity and cohesion.
“Additionally, all unauthorised (and unaccredited) persons are warned to stay away from restricted and certain designated areas at the event venues,” the statement partly read.
The DSS reiterated its earlier call for the populace to remain calm and law abiding, adding that it will continue to sustain collaboration with sister agencies to ensure successful inaugurations.

The operating licenses of 132 Microfinance Banks, three finance companies and four primary mortgage banks have been revoked by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The CBN said the Microfinance Banks, Finance Companies and Primary Mortgage Banks ceased to carry on, in Nigeria, the type of business for which their licences were issued for a continuous period of six months. They also failed to fulfill or comply with the conditions subject to which their licences were granted.
They also failed to comply with the obligations imposed upon them by the Central Bank of Nigeria in accordance with the provisions of Banks and Other Financial Institutions Act (BOFIA) 2020, Act No. 5
A gazette signed by CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele read;
“Now Therefore, I, Godwin Ifeanyi Emefiele, CON, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, in exercise of the powers conferred on the Central Bank of Nigeria under Section 12 of BOFIA 2020, Act No.5, hereby revoke the licences of the Microfinance Banks, Finance Companies and Primary Mortgage Banks stated in Schedules I, II and III respectively attached hereto.”
Some of the affected Microfinance banks include Atlas Microfinance Bank; Bluewhales Microfinance Bank; Everest Microfinance Bank; Mainsail Microfinance Bank; Nopov Microfinance Bank; Ohon Microfinance Bank; Premium Microfinance Bank and Statesman Microfinance Bank.
Others include Manny Microfinance Bank; Reality Microfinance Bank; Osina Microfinance Bank; Zikado Microfinance Bank; Taraba Microfinance Bank, Ndiagu Microfinance Bank, among others.
The Finance Companies- HHL Invest & Trust Limited, TFS Finance Limited and Treasures & Trust Limited.
The primary mortgage Banks which also lost their licenses are Resort Savings & Loans, Safetrust Mortgage Bank, Adamawa Savings & Loans and Kogi Savings & Loans.
Founder/Chairman, of Dangote Group of Companies, Alhaji Aliko Dangote said the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical; would start delivering refined products to the Nigerian market from July this year, as operators urged the Federal Government to ensure transparency in the supply of crude oil to the 650,000 barrels per day crude oil processing refinery.

Speaking at the event, the founder of the refinery, Dangote, said, “It is our firm commitment that; we will replicate in this sector what we have; actually achieved in the cement and fertilizer markets, while Nigeria transformed from being; the largest importer of these crude products to a net exporter.”
He pointed out that the “first goal is to ramp up projections of various products to ensure that within this year, we are able to fully satisfy our nation’s demand for higher quality products to enable us to eliminate the tragedy of import dependency and stop, once and for all, the dumping in our market of toxic substandard petroleum products.
“Our first products will be in the market before the end of July, beginning of August this year.”
He also said the refinery plans to export to 53 African countries which depend on other countries for petroleum products.
