Where is Adehkings? Fans Questions Singer’s Disappearance From Music Scene

Every now and then squabbles between an artist and his erstwhile record label always pops up in the Nigerian music scene. Artist – Label ‘war’ is not just subject to the Nigerian entertainment landscape, it also stretches into the global music horizon. But then I’m just particular about what happens in my own country.

Year after year you definitely get to read a news headline which notifies you of an internal conflict between an artist and his once very jolly music imprint.
An interesting similarity in all these fracas between record labels and artists is that once a relatively unknown youngster gains astronomical rise via the platform provided him by his music imprint, the label becomes too small for him. Or perhaps the artists believes they have come a long way and they can now call the shots. Of course the artist is churning out millions weekly for his label, so therefore he would love to run the show. One of such cases is the Cynthia Morgan and Northside Record rift.
Which also bring us to the question in everyone’s lips; Where is Alewa House artist Adehkings?

Nigerians are now expressing obvious concern for the “Soke” crooner music halt, since the release of his “Africa United” EP last year 2019.

According to our source, the singer was tossed out of the House in February 2020, which explains his sudden disappearance in the music scene.
The question in the lips of everyone now is, why? What happened?
Feel free to comment below and tell us what you think is going on in Alewa House.

Keita, Mali president, resigns after military coup

Mali’s President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita announced his resignation on live television in the early hours of Wednesday morning following a military coup.

“I’ve decided to leave my post,” he said; clad in traditional clothing and a medical mask to protect against the coronavirus.

Keita and Prime Minister Boubou Cisse were arrested by the military after a mutiny on Tuesday; following months of street protests in the volatile West African state, which is also battling an Islamic insurgency.

“The president and his prime minister have been arrested. They are being taken to Kati military camp,” army officer Sidi Gakou told dpa earlier Tuesday.

The United Nations, European Union, African Union Commission; as well as the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) have condemned the military’s actions.

The UN has called for the “immediate release” of the president; while the EU said it “condemns the coup attempt underway in Mali and rejects any anti-constitutional change. This can in no way be a response to the deep socio-political crisis that has hit Mali for several months,” the EU said in a statement.

Later, ECOWAS said that it decided to close its member states’ borders with Mali; suspend the country from its decision-making bodies “with immediate affect,” and temporarily interrupt financial flows between its other 14 members and Bamako.

Mali has been struggling to maintain stability since tens of thousands of opposition supporters accused Keita of gross intimidation; as well as vote-buying during a parliamentary election in April, which gave his administration a firm majority.

Soldiers seize Mali President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta

Soldiers started to mutiny early Tuesday in the garrison town of Kati, 15 kilometres north-west of Bamako. Gunfire was heard in the capital.

A photographer told dpa there had been several thousand protesters on the streets; with people firing into the air in celebration.

Before its leaders were detained, the government had released a statement calling for calm; admitting that soldiers might have legitimate frustrations and saying they were prepared to engage in a dialogue.

The U.S., Australian, and Swedish embassies in Mali warned of possible unrest in the volatile West African country; urging their citizens to stay at home.

France, a former colonial power in Mali, condemned the mutiny.

“France has learned with concern of the mutiny that has started today in Kati, Mali. It condemns this serious event in the strongest terms,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The coup come after several weeks of political tensions and repeated anti-government protests; during which talks between the government and the opposition, which is led by popular cleric Mahmoud Dicko; a former ally of Keita, failed.

A coup in Mali in 2012 was carried out by soldiers from the same barracks.

Political instability in Mali is seen as a dangerous development for the entire Sahel region; which already faces ongoing threats from numerous terrorist and separatist groups.

Mompha sues EFCC over re-arrest

Embattled social media sensation, Mompha real name Ismaila Mustapha has reportedly filed a lawsuit against EFCC following his rearrest on Friday, August 14.

4wardwego gathered that Mompha has set in motion a N5 million lawsuit against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC over his recent arrest.

Recall it was earlier reported that Mompha was re-arrested last Friday, August 14 when he went to the EFCC office in Ikoyi, Lagos to reclaim his five wristwatches; one Apple Air pod; one iPhone 8 mobile phone and one pair of sunglasses.

Following an application by his lawyer, Gboyega Oyewole (SAN), Justice Mohammed Liman had on July 24 ordered the EFCC to release the items to Mompha.

Mompha had gone to the EFCC to pick up his item last Friday. He had barely left the EFCC premises when operatives of the anti-graft agency waylaid him and took him into custody. EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, said Mompha’s re-arrest was connected to a fresh set of cyber fraud charges.

In a suit filed before the Federal High Court Lagos by his lawyer, Gboyega Oyewole (SAN) today August 18, Mompha prayed the court to mandate the EFCC to pay him N5m for what he termed his “unlawful re-arrest and detention.”

Further, he urged the court to declare that the continued seizure of the items violated his right to own property under Section 44 of the constitution.

The court is yet to fix a date for the hearing of Mompha’s suit.
